I live in a solid house in the mountains. The wind blows fresh here, the stars bright.
Like all of us, every day I practice what it is for me to be human in the best way I can. If I get tripped up, I look for the horizon line and feel the ground to find my center.
As an artist, I'm drawn to the aesthetic of mystery, whisps of connection, beauty, surprise and the edges of light. Making my own work is new for me even though I have been at it a long time. I've never given it the proper time and space that it takes. I have taught instead. Or that is my narrative - it may be that I just didn't let it happen. Now is now. And here is today.
I wonder what's underneath what's been done so far. We have only scratched through a tiny layer of the turtle's backstory. This beginning of something is stirring up old parts to make something new. This I know for sure.
Optimism and joy always win for me. We are remarkable, each of us, and I belive that humans are creative by nature. We get up and start something every morning whether it feels innovative or not. If we choose to quiet down and listen to what is being said way deep down in our bones, we can follow a rhythm without having to try too hard. That's the start of what can happen in a moment.
The work that I am showing here is possibly just one quick sketch that if put together might be saying all too much at once. Honing in, I am curious to see what will happen next.
